How to check a wallet address before you send
A crypto transaction is final. There is no chargeback and no support queue that can reverse it. Almost every loss that looks like fraud is in fact an address that was wrong before it was ever used.
Four habits
- Copy, never type. Hand typing an address invites a transposed character. Use the copy button in your wallet.
- Check the first and last six characters after pasting. Clipboard malware swaps an address for one that looks similar at a glance; it almost never matches at both ends.
- Check the network, not just the coin. USDT exists on several chains and they are not interchangeable. Swapcrypts shows the network beside every asset for exactly this reason.
- Send a small test first when the amount matters and the route is new to you.
What the exchange checks
Swapcrypts checks that an address is the right shape for the network you chose and refuses it if it is not. That catches typos and wrong network pastes. It cannot tell whether the address belongs to you, so the last check is always yours.
